We don't bake bread. The reality is there's no pure play, publicly held, $100 million company that does what we do -- managed mental health care -- and, therefore, no real information on how to value us. Baker-Meekins has analyzed the public markets to find information that correlates to our value -- which is integral to providing the cost per share for our employee stock option plan and why we use them. Certainly, Baker-Meekins has a very good reputation. But the biggest reason we're pleased with them is because they've taken the time to understand what we do -- which is, I believe, why you get value.

Baker-Meekins provides us with an independent stock valuation on our employee stock ownership plan to meet our ESOP's annual requirements. We've worked well with their people since the mid-80s. They know us. They know how Channellock performs as a manufacturing organization. That length of service always assures us a consistent interpretation and a very defensible position on the value of our stock should it ever be challenged by the Department of Labor or anyone else. And as long as I get them what they need, their turnaround times are excellent.

In determining the value of a business -- whatever its size -- the government is very persnickety. Baker-Meekins does the research, puts the findings in the appropriate format and explains them to both the IRS and the client with good result. The same is true for mergers and acquisitions.
